The supplementary contribution of the BARMER is determined individually by each health insurer and can change annually. It is charged in addition to the general contribution rate of 14,6% .

The contribution is charged up to the contribution assessment ceiling of 69.750 € (annually). For employees, employers and employees each pay half of the contribution.
The average supplementary contribution of all statutory health insurers is 2,9%. In case of an increase in the supplementary contribution, insured persons have a special right of termination.
